And I'm also mad that the ending left that part open too. But she is also stupid at times, and feels very bad about herself. She is strong, but also broken, and she is kind and loyal. Well, mostly ) Scarlet is an amazing character. I really liked the characters in this book. ![]() There is a lot of things happening in this book, lots of good thing, but more bad things. Which was hard to read, but it was also awesome that it had that. And there is a lot of torture and death in this book. This book has a lot more happening, but also a lot less. Liked even more that it was not the same as that movie. Very similar to the Disney Robin Hood movie, and I liked that. And I will forever hate them, although many won't have that issue. Because, yeah, there were many things I hated. But because of something I can not stand at all, I'm only giving it a four star. ![]() The plot in this book is worthy of a five star. (Never noticed that name in the Disney movie.) But, it makes sense, and I really really loved it. Except for the Disney one, which I love :) So I didn't know until I finished reading the book that Will Scarlet was an actual "real" person, sort of. I must admit I have not read any Robin Hood books or watched any movies. ![]()

![]() We have my long time beloved characters in Rowan, Citra, Farraday, Grayson and the Thunderhead. It is really necessary to read these books in order. The Toll is the completion of so many story lines with a few new ones developed. I wouldn’t call it a cliffhanger but there is so much more I want to know. After I finished reading, I went to look because, man, it could NOT end there. The answer lies in the Tone, the Toll, and the Thunder.įor some reason, I thought Thunderhead was the sequel to Scythe and it was the end of the Arc of a Scythe series. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him? It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. In a world that's conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created?Ĭitra and Rowan have disappeared. ![]() ![]() In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. It’s been three years since Rowan and Citra disappeared since Scythe Goddard came into power since the Thunderhead closed itself off to everyone but Grayson Tolliver. Try this sentence: “Her eyes were like flint and flower petals.” Or this one: “The tears came like a small relentless army approaching the front lines of her eyes. ![]() A tell-tale way to spot a weak writer? They can’t stop weirdly describing people’s eyes. From bad description to horrible grammar to utterly confusing metaphors, Sebold covered it all. It is filled with some of the worst sentence-level writing that I have ever encountered. Here are some of my gripes, problems and issues that we can hopefully use to prevent something like this from ever happening again to us, our children, or our children’s children: If it serves any use at all, it might be a perfect guide on how not to write a book. How could this have ever possibly been popular? Is it for the same reason that the song “My Humps” hit number one? I mean, I don’t technically believe in burning books, but this novel really got me thinking. It is truly a black, black tragedy that the words in this book were placed in that particular order, published, and distributed. The Lovely Bones has got to be the most baffling, poorly written, jaw-droppingly bad book that I have ever set my eyes on. ![]() ![]() ![]() But it's impossible to describe this prose without foolishness, so I won't bother. It turns out one plus one actually equals three. That final idea casts the previous paragraph into a different light and suddenly, in sharp relief, you see what he’s actually talking about. ![]() Steinbeck has a skill and economy of language that allows him to be talking about one thing and end his paragraph with a whole other idea. In the book Steinbeck covers his surprises, his horrors, his struggles, and his expected wonders. ![]() I thought this was an ideal book because I’m going on a self-imposed see-America trip too-not just to see sunsets, but that’s part of it. John Steinbeck took a trip with his dog Charley in 1960 to see America as it really was. I guess more than I’ve been painting I’ve been looking at sunsets recently. When a spy chief in London is warned of a dangerous leak, his investigations lead him to Julian’s seaside retreat.
